Step-by-step analysis is a directional drilling calculation complementary to the equilibrium curvature approach. The trajectory evolution is assessed from a drill ahead mode with varying local conditions, which allows for the simulation of local doglegs generated by:

• Interbedded & anisotropic formations
• RSS/SM/VGS settings modifications
• WOB fluctuations
• Overgauge/Caving effects
• Side tracks

We provide BHA and bit design optimization to minimize or anticipate:

• BHA directional oscillation
• Hole spiraling
• Slide rotate pattern

In a post-analysis process, simulating the local doglegs such as the slide rotate pattern allows one to identify the optimal wellbore trajectory and greatly improves the TVD accuracy.
