What Else? > PDC Bit Booster®

DrillScan is conducting a research program on a new PDC bit technology called Bit Booster®. Based on single cutter detailed interaction analysis, Armines showed that a single cutter could generate a lateral force oriented in the drilling direction. Armines has patented the Bit Booster® concept.

When integrating this new cutting structure in conventional PDC bit design, we can have strong modifications of the WOB vs. ROP response and design bits that no longer require WOB to enter the formation.

For applications where WOB is - or has to be - reduced and power is available at bit, this new technology can strongly improve performance, specifically by:

• Increasing the drain hole length for ERD wells
• Extending the drain hole length for coiled tubing
• Increasing verticality control by reduced WOB
• Reducing buckling problem
• Improving sliding performance
