Relief Well

Problem

Very challenging interception operation of a collided offshore well.

Analysis

The collided well was situated near multiple offset wells, and presented high risk of collision. A challenging interception operation was necessary to kill the well.

Solution

As the relief well was a very high accuracy profile well, we worked on uncertainty modeling enhancement, and developed customized software for the milling modeling operation.

New development field

Problem

As part of new development field, the aim was first to determine, in the planning stage, the BHA and bit designs, and then to assess the ellipse of uncertainty (due to the directional drilling uncertainties) at the top of the reservoir.

Analysis

Analysis of all operational & mechanical parameters that affect BHA directional behaviour. This allowed us to determine their impact on wellbore geometry.

Solution

For each section, BHA and bit designs (primary and contingency) were defined comparing all available techniques. Thus, we obtained a global uncertainty envelope associated with the formation environment, operational parameters and directional techniques
